Book Review - How I Resist: Activism and Hope for a New Generation

đź“–Recommend for Grades 8 and upđź“–
edited by Maureen Johnson
The act of standing up for what one believes in and fighting for justice aren’t new. People today are still fighting, and teens are among them in great numbers. Young Adult author Maureen Johnson has collected stories, poems, interviews and more from actors, authors and others, all of whom stand up to resistance. These contributors include Jason Reynolds, Jacqueline Woodson, Daniel J. Watts, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Libba Bray.
Whether the contributor is previously known by the reader or not, they are bound to find at least some of the pieces intriguing. Some of the work collected may even inspire action. Readers are able to read the collection in order or jump around to those they find most interesting. Overall, a great collection.
