Book Review - Words on Bathroom Walls

📖Recommend for Grades 10 and up📖
by Julia Walton
Adam Petrazelli refuses to answer his therapists’ questions. Instead, he writes down his answers and feelings in a journal for his therapists to read during their sessions. He is seeing the therapists to be monitored while being a part of a new drug trial for his Schizophrenia. Over the ten months of the trial, Adam shares his ups and downs of starting over in a new school with the secret of his mental illness, living with a stepfather who now seems afraid of him, and seeing all his “imaginary friends”.
A wonderful and intriguing story about living life with a mental illness. Adam is a delightful character, as are many of the supporting ones. As Adam attends a Catholic HS some readers may find some parts a little too heavy on religion but that should not deter one from reading this story.

Book Review - People Like Us

📖Recommend for Grades 9 and up📖
by Dana Mele
A group of friends at an elite boarding school discover the dead body of their classmate, Jessica, in the lake on the night of a school dance. One of the girls, Kay, is a suspect in the murder and finds herself on a scavenger hunt to find the real killer or prove it was a suicide. When she receives what appears to be a revenge blog sent to her by Jessica, set up prior to her death, Kay finds herself betraying her friends in order to keep her own dark secret. Kay didn’t kill Jessica, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a murderer.
While Kay may not be the best character, readers will root for her finding out what really happened to Jessica. This story is filled with twists and turns that keep it interesting. Readers will have their own guesses as to what really happened and why and will enjoy discovering if they are correct. Mystery and suspense fans will eat this up.

📖Recommend for Grades 7 and up📖
by Kasie West
Bored one day in Chem. class, Lily writes a lyric from one of her favorite songs on the desk. When she returns to class the next day, she is surprised that somebody added to what she wrote. This begins a series of correspondence and bonding between Lily and this mystery person. Lily hopes that it’s her longtime crush Lucas, but she may be surprised when she finds out who this person really is.
Though slow to start, this is ultimately a fun and enjoyable love story. While the identity of Lily’s mystery pen pal isn’t exactly a secret to the reader, they will enjoy waiting for her discovery of their identity.

Teen Space Program

with Miss. Amanda

Last Saturday teens designed their own tote bags using fabric and acrylic paint. The craft was planned to use dot painting but some decided to use a more traditional style and others decide to do a combination of the two. Stencils were provided or teens could free hand their own design.

All of the totes turned about beautiful. They all now have their own unique tote to bring their library books back and forth with.

Book Review - Odd One Out

📖Recommended for Grades 10 and up📖
by Nic Stone
Courtney “Coop” Cooper has a long time crush on his best friend Jupiter Charity-Sanchez who, unfortunately for him, likes girls. When Rae Chin moves to town, both friends find themselves attracted to her. To her surprise, Rae is attracted to not just Coop, but possibly Jupiter as well. Rae’s feelings for Coop angers Jupiter and not for the reasons she thought, causing her to question her own feelings and identity.
A love triangle that will keep readers on their toes. Readers will find themselves questioning which pair they would like to see from this trio of friends. A big part of this story isn’t a romance but an intriguing look at sexual identity and the labels society has us give ourselves.
