Taja Brown is a young African American girl growing up in
Houston, Texas in the 1990s. Spanning several years, it is the story of Taja
growing up, dealing with family, friends, and boys, maintaining her relationship
with God, and what it means to be a teenage girl.
This story is told in 53 vignettes starting when Taja is
eleven and ending after she graduates from High School. Readers are likely to
find pieces of themselves and their friends in Taja and hers.
